I smiled with a cup of tea in my left hand and a book in my other. The mansion was in disarray and chaos with Hildegard's mysterious disappearance.
"Callisto!" Father screamed angrily as he stomped towards me as an excited smile pasted on my face.
This was going to be marvelous.
"Lovely weather we're having. Don't you agree father?" I asked as he stood before me in the pavilion.
Silence broke as the environment reminded us of life with it's soft and delicate sound.
Father raised his hands in dares to slap me but I I raised my hand putting his motion to pause before I dropped my book and stood up.
"Where is she?!" Father asked as I folded my hands and walked away from him.
"Who?" I asked politely as I batted my lashes.
Father took a step closer and gripped my hand, pulling his face closer to mine.
"Where is your future queen?" He asked with his voice dangerously low and hostile as I angered but maintained my smile.
"Dear father, your looking at your future queen. I fear that the old queen is...late." I responded as I took his rough hands that gripped me and slowly released.
"Did you kill her?" Father asked as I sighed.
"Who knows. What do you think father? Did I kill her?" I asked father as I stepped away from him.
I walked to the end of the pavilion as I stared at the flowers that shimmered with the sun and danced with the wind.
"All flowers are beautiful even the ugly ones because they all have functions to little creatures but to us humans just mere decorations that are just begging to shrivel and die. Your daughter, Hildegard is just like that. Beautiful, elegant, small, helpless and dependent and a mere decoration for satisfaction. She is what this kingdom doesn't need in power...a child." I said as I heard father's footsteps to my side.
I faced father whose face had finally calmed down but it was clear he was still mad at me.
"You fear me father. Why I wonder? Yet strangely, I'm still your favorite." I asked as I gave a look of confusion.
Father chuckled as he stared at the blue sky with fluffy clouds that knew nothing of the disasters to come.
"There's a wise saying my father, your grandfather taught me as a young learned man."
"And what will that be?"
"Be weary of a devil's spawn, they always bite back." He said as I smile slowly.
"Grandfather was really wise. It's unfortunate his passion for woman turned him into Snow White. A bite of a red apple was all it took to have his flesh under the soul though it's sad red is my favorite color." I said as father sighed.
"I should have listened to my grandfather and gotten rid of you the moment you were born now I'm stuck in this mess." Father cursed as he walked to the table.
I turned back and faced my old man as he sat in the chair with his fingers interwined and his leg crossed.
"And I can provide you with a solution." I said as I took a step, closing a step distance between us.
"And what solution would that be?" He asked with a straight face as his breathing quicked in anticipation.
"This country needs a queen and I am the only one who can give it what it deserves. Send me in replacement of my sister, stating to the king that your oldest daughter has lost her life to a terrible contagious illness from one of the peasants and her body was buried immediately. Inform his royal highness of your youngest daughter who is more suitable and fit to rule and have her stand in the palace as Prince August's bride until death do us part. I am a woman after all, fruitful, bleeding and endowed with a color blessed by the gods." I explained as I walked around the small pavilion.
Father banged his hand on the table and stood.
"That is preposterous! You are to wed Lord Capell's son and no one else! I will not do something so stupid and foolish child! Do not test me and tell me where your sister is?!" Father demanded as I broke into laughter.
"Would you rather I send my sister's head to the king? If I did, automatically the throne becomes mine without doubt. All it takes father is a letter and your daughter you so much groomed into an obedient doll will be delivered in a box. So are you willing to take that risk?" I asked father who said nothing as his fists clenched.
He was clearly backed in a corner that would end in my favor no matter how he tried. Even if he did get to my sister, she would be dead before she ever saw Westoros ever again.
"What of the marriage proposal with the Capell's? Surely you know it wouldn't be wise to make an enemy with them especially in these delicate issues?" He asked as I arched a brow.
"I already thought about it." I started as I walked closer to father who sat with unease but enough trust. "We will send my handmaiden Gwendeline to the young lad as a wife."
"Do you know what will happen the moment they realise we sent them a lowly maid."
"Father be careful, you may insult anyone of my maids but Gwen remains an exception. She is elegant and proper, personally trained by her grandmother who served the queen and will be of use to us. Gwen will be adopted into the family and be our secret child and if the Capell's ever find out about Gwen, I will be queen and they will be powerless." I explained, catching father's interest even more.
"If you have thought of everything even without me, why still include me?" Father asked as I smirked.
"You have want I need father." I responded.
"And what would that be, my little pheonix?"
"The king's court." I replied bluntly pasting a smile on father's face.
"Very well. I will help you but only on one condition." Father said as I tittered.
"Go on."
"When you are queen, you will have be by the king's side in power." Father stated as I nodded.
"Of course, that has always been the plan from the start. I look forward to working with you father." I said as I stretched my hands towards father who stared at it in suspicion.
He stared into my wily eyes and then shook my hand while maintaining eye contact.
"Pleasure as well, my little phoenix." Father responded.a
The biggest mistake father had ever made was...he trusted me more than he should have.
I stood in the most beautiful dress, picked out by my family as I and my family stood before the royal family which included King Henry, the two princes, August and his younger brother Arthur, Duchess Ariana, their eldest sister and her husband Duke Alexander Danish. My family as well as myself bowed as my eyes went to the husband I was to wed.Arrogant, proud, tall, handsome and muscular. He was truly attractive but what can I say common men didn't catch my attention especially one whose hid his cowardily nature behind a crown. I guessed he must be heir because he is most easy to manipulate and that is what the king's court needs.A coward who will bend his head and do their biddings till he shrivels in old age and dies in regret, unable to see his children to tell them to live the life of a free man, a rebel. My eyes remained fascinated with his younger brother Arthur. He was more man, more bold and daring than his brother.Dark brown
I was irritated as I walked the halls of the palace to my quarters. Visibly I appeared to be unapproachable and childishly thinking but everything in my head was other than petty things.I had wasted five years planning to have myself as the bride of his highness ever since father had mentioned Hildagard's marriage and suddenly when I have the crown an arm stretch from me, I have lost it to a homosexual crowned prince.I wasn't opposed to the thought of loving one of the same gender especially after having a sexual affair with Gwen as a parting gift but the idiocy to hold on to a lover and still hold the throne while being the submissive of the relationship disgusted me.I had gotten closer to August in just a day and it wasn't much work to realize he was no king. He had no kingship in him not because he was in love but because he was too much of a child to have his hand stained in blood for a kingdom he would rule.He enjoyed to be controlled than contro
I sat with the royal family as we ate breakfast together in silence as our cutleries did most of the talking to us.Arthur kept looking at me sneakily while August was bold and proud as he shamelessly looked at me.King Henry was drinking himself drunk again though he was tipsy as he patted his fat belly with a cup of sweet wine in his hand and a gleeful smile that had me disgusted.I needed to pay the Greyjoy manor a visit, it's been over three months since I started living here as the Prince August's bride to be.The wedding would be in three months from today and as much as I should be happy, I wasn't. I needed it to be sooner if I wanted Prince Arthur to seat on the throne that deserved to be his."Father-in-law may I be excuse and allowed into town to see my family. It's been three months and I dearly miss them especially my dear father." I said as I held my cutleries down."Have you discussed this with your fiancé?" King H
Dear readers, this is my second book on this platform and I must say I am grateful to be a writer on this platform but unfortunately I am not very confident in my writing nowadays. I request that for everyone who has gotten this far in my book should please review and rate this book and tell me your honest opinion. I plan on submitting this book for Goodnovel's 2020 contest and I want to know which is better. Thank you so much. The days I spent in my father's house was thirty days and I was grateful I did. The household was secretly in a mess that I had to put everything to order especially with father.Father didn't want me gone but he had no choice because I was no longer his, I was another man's wife to be but at least he was better. He was sane and much more than the day I had arrived and more ready to help me the problem was...I had deceived father.I hadn't told him of my little change in plans but ignorance was bliss for someone
Everything was going wrong. Nothing seemed to be going right at all but I wasn't worried. I was okay and I was calm because if you didn't have a flaw in you, you aren't human or wish to be.I expected that Ingrid would be cautious of me after I realised he was smarter than he seemed but I guess you can't expect all brawns to be born without brains though Ingrid is quite a man I would love in my harem but his totally uninterested in woman.Sad but we can't always have what we want.I stayed in the library as I studied battle strategies by generals, deceased who had fought wars, won and defeated.History was an interesting subjected but if it hadn't been for too much numbers and series of events followed shortly after it had been recorded, later generations would have been interested. This just shows that the quality of education is degrading as life gets easier but it matters not to me unless I have need for it.I quite frankly missed Arthur
Today was the day I would wed August. Everything was finally falling into place, I was going to have the life I deserved and no one could stop me not even myself.I smiled weakly as I stared into the mirror that reflected my pretty face. I wasn't one for makeup but on a day like this, it was acceptable. The door opened as I stared at the mirror to see Arthur. He looked handsome in his suit, tailored by the finest seamstress who commented he and his twin were natures of art. How gratifying."You look beautiful my queen." Arthur said as I chuckled softly."Haven't you heard it's bad luck seeing the bride before her wedding?" I playfully asked as Arthur brought his lips to my neck, blessing it with kisses as I leaned closer to his warm lips."Unfortunately for me my love, I don't believe in superstition especially when it comes to a beautiful woman such as yourself." Arthur praised as I giggled before pushing his head away softly."Highly unfor
ArthurI was nervous; we all were.Callisto had to be poisoned on her wedding day though I wondered who could have poisoned her.Her personality was a guarantee for a lot of enemies yet I couldn't wrap my head around anyone who would have chosen her wedding to ride of her.The doctor came out as we all stood side by side. My brother, August approached him with a look of desperation I have not seen in a long time."Is she okay?" August asked as the doctor nodded."She'll live. Do not fret, her blood type resists the ghost eye poison. He just needs a lot of rest." The doctor informed us."Can we see her?" August asked."Well she is your wife so I grant only you permission. She is extremely exhausted so she needs her rest. Excuse me your majesties." The doctor instructed before he left with heavy steps."Thank you all for waiting with me. If Callisto is awake, I will speak of each of you to her." A
CallistoArthur was making a big issue over the persecution of two humans who were very much dispensable. He was a king material but he was still an emotionally deprived child much like August who clothed his decently. To rule, a few blood must be shed. I cannot think of any king whose reign, the blood of innocents and guilty wasn't shed but I was patient.I was patient but I wouldn't let Arthur's protest stop me in anyway.I hated being kept in suspense. I desired to know what was happening but because some man with a paper showing he could play doctor, I was kept away to rest.I needed to see August, Gwen needed to see me."Humans are really becoming too dependant these days." I whispered as I nibbed on my finger. The door opened quietly and my surprise was to see father-in-law making his ever first private appearance to me.My hand went underneath my pillow, touching the knife I kept hi
