Chapter three

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul - unknown

Eugene Ari Darian's POV

My eyes opened slowly to see the clock hanging loosely on the wall. It was halfway on the floor and read two in the morning. I walked to an adjacent room to what I presumed was the bathroom. A curse left my mouth at what looked to be a shower but was covered with mold and algae.

I walked back out into the bedroom and simply wrote a note, thanking her for the lovely night, and went back to the bar to have a good time. Quickly, I wore my clothes, bumping into bed now and then as the jeans refused to let go of my ankle. I was out the door in minutes.

It was less crowded than earlier with few people passed out at some corner and empty cups loitered on the tiles floor. The music boomed loudly from the speakers which annoyed me due to my sensitive hearing. The crowd at the bar and lessons the bartender couldn't have been more relieved having to listen to different folks with different problems and giving good advice but that wasn't what had me staring.

A lady sat in the middle of the chaos as her shoulders hunched, her body shook with each sob as she bawled her eyes out, sniffles left her. She was crying and the few clubbers awake were probably too drunk to approach her.

With quick, long strides, I was in front of her, pulling back a seat for myself. She looked at me with parted lips and said

"I want to be alone if you don't mind." she wiped a single tear

"I do mind, a pretty lady like yourself shouldn't be left alone to cry."

"I'm not crying so please leave." she straightened her spine, relieving her back from its slouched position

"Then what is that?" My fingers on their own accord pointed to her cheeks where a fat tear laid

"It's nothing," she swiped it off smoothly

"You know, it is said that sharing your problems with someone helps." I tried prying her to open up to me

"That's not true, your problem is your burden alone, there's nothing to share. It just becomes a known problem to everyone," she licked the rim of her glass

"Well I say otherwise," I laid my head on the table and waited for her to open up which she did after some quiet seconds, as quiet as a bar could be. She seemed to be thinking.

"I don't usually share my problems with strangers but I'll likely never see you again so what the heck," she gave a light laugh at the last part

She eventually told me about her ex-boyfriend who she dated for three years and how he was bisexual and cheated on her.

"I'm still in shock, he seemed straight till a few months ago," she lamented, a hard stare on her glass.

"I started noticing these late-night calls and texts. He even ended a night of fifty shades of grey for a call he had claimed was from a childhood friend," she shook her head in disbelief

She took a deep breath and continued with hands crossed on the table

"And when I toned in on the call, I felt a lot of things but hearing a male voice, I calmed down and gave it rest, sleeping off while waiting for him."

"They spoke for four good hours," she released some air and her voice turned high pitched as she hit the table in annoyance

"Three weeks later, a guy called again and they spoke about really emotional stuff. That's when I began suspecting but I didn't want to entertain the thoughts."

"I gave him a surprise visit and you won't believe what I saw," I could see the pain in her eyes even though she was trying to hide them

"He was getting anal from another guy!" She slammed the table and shielded her face from me. Her hands were up in her face as she sobbed quietly into them. I began putting her back in an awkward manner, not sure of what to say after her rant.

"You are not very good at this, are you?" She gave a little chuckle, gesturing to my hands patting her back but I just stared and took a quiet breathe, taking her watermelon scent in.

I don't need your pity," she told me, pushing my arm away

"I'm a big girl, it's not like this is my first or second or third breakup," she spoke with her voice lowered at the end but I still didn't say anything

"Thanks for giving me a listening ear, I appreciate it," she confessed, rising from her seat to exit the bar I presumed but eventually tumbled over a table and was sprawl on the floor. While she was telling her story, I didn't notice her getting drunk. My eyes were too busy gazing and admiring her well-sculptured face.

I took her to my place, washed her up, and later laid her on my bed. My gaze fell on the clock and it read five in the morning. I knew it was too last to get any sleep so I decided to relax on my sofa at the corner of the room after many inner arguments with myself.

I took the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gaze openly at her without the fear of being caught and ended up looking like a creep hitting me hard. Her beauty was out of this world. She passed out on our way here. Though she looked light, she was heavy and weighed a ton. A normal human would have dropped her to the floor but my extra strength smoothed it out properly. I carried her like a sack of rice, not gentle.

As my eyes continued their work on the realization hit me. She was the girl from the coffee shop. The line breaker and also the ridiculous-looking lady. She cleaned up nice, I never would have expected her to look this good. I gazed at her till I also fell asleep.
