Preface

The hallways were eerily quiet as a slim, tall woman walked through and made every student turn their heads just to see her eyes colored like ashes and her natural auburn hair. Miranda was the epitome of beauty itself.

Miranda entered a room full of noisy students. They didn't acknowledge her presence until someone made a paper plane and flew it around the room, landing at her forehead. She took the fallen paper plane from the table and all the students were staring at her, anticipating how she'll react.

"Good morning class, I am Mrs McElwain's substitute until she comes back from her maternal leave," She calmly said. The students quietly came back to their seats and stared at the auburn-haired woman in front.

"I am Miranda Thorne. You may call me Ms Thorne. Now, can someone tell me what your last lesson was about?" One student raised her hand, Miranda nodded, giving the student permission to stand.

“We always have Mondays as storytelling, Ms Thorne," Another student raised a hand.

“If you don’t mind me asking, Ms Thorne. Are you a writer?” Miranda smiled.

“I never thought someone knew me in this school. But yes, I go by the pseudonym M.T Silveign,” The student gave her a wide smile and squealed in excitement.

“You’re M.T Silveign? I am a fan! I’ve always wanted to attend one of your book signing events!”

“Bring your books some time and I’ll sign them,” Miranda said while smiling. Another student raised his hand until most of them did. Miranda didn’t expect that she’s this known to young adults, especially to the ones attending a strict boarding school.

“I read your book Falling to the Depths, when will you release the fifth part? I couldn’t get over the last book!” Miranda hid the sadness in her smile. She too, couldn't get over it.

“Most of you love my work, thank you,” Miranda appreciated the students.

Miranda looked at the class in front of her and smiled sweetly, "And how even the most powerful person could feel powerless in front of the person they love."
