Chapter 5 - Mate, Lycans, werewolves and vampires?

The dark clothed man, who threw him down, glanced my way. I gasped. He freaking had wings, black and huge and he was hanging down low yet his feet never touching the ground. I would prefer using only one word if I had to describe him. A vampire!

He has white pale skin like a vampire, his lips are bloody red and his eyes are dark, so dark you would feel like he’s looking right into your soul, sorting through your darkest sins. He has black shoulder length hair and looks fierce and right now his lips are pressed into a thin line.

I could no longer deny that what was happening wasn’t real because real or not, it was definitely happening unless my eyes were playing some tricks on me.

“You didn’t tell me you met your mate, Alejandro.” He addressed the man who had bit me.

Mate?

“Leave her alone!” Alejandro tried to get up but ended up hissing in pain. Consequently, I gasped in pain.

“If I’m not mistaken, this is what happens among destined mates in your kind, right?” It sounded more like a statement than a question as his eyes shifting to and fro between us before he fixed his hardened yet amused gaze on Alejandro.

Destined mates?

“Don’t you dare!” Alejandro warned the guy who was slowly nearing me.

I think my death is near and from what I can see; the cause of my death will be greatly exaggerated.

“I pity you, a mere human and mated to a beast?” I pushed myself backwards despite the bruising pain I was feeling when he perched down low. Leaning close to my face, he closed his eyes and sniffed the air before a wicked grin spread across his lips.

“If this mutt hadn’t marked you, you would have had a chance but since you’ve already been dragged into this world, you will bear the consequences of being his mate.” He declared, his voice dripping with a death warning.

Before I could even blink, he raised his hand up high, a silver blade shinning as bright as the moon, and swiftly sliced through the air.

I realized minutes after that he hadn’t simply sliced through the air pointlessly when I felt pain seized my left arm. I glanced down in shock to find a long and deep bloody cut on my arm.

I could no longer scream but Alejandro cried out. Totally speechless by what just happened, I choked back my tears as my heart dropped into my stomach. I couldn’t bear hearing Alejandro’s painful cries as his body jerked in pain yet, I couldn’t make out why my heart tore in half hearing his screams.

“W-What -”

“Surprise seeing your mate in such pain? For you, it’s nothing but for him, this simple knife can be lethal.” He explained.

“H-How -”

“I’ll let you in on a little secret. This knife is specially coated with silver to give feral lycans like him a slow and painful death -”

“Lycans?” He pointedly glared at me when I interrupted him.

“You are so human. Have you never heard of werewolves?” I wanted to tell him that I was in fact very much human, thank you very much but I pressed my lips together.

“Werewolves are nothing but mutts…

I zoned out. I was still as bewildered as I had been ever since I met those dogs. Now that the engraved image of those dogs crossed my mind, I was forced to think about them. They were so huge that they couldn’t have been just dogs but then what were they… wolves?

“You’re wrong. He is not a werewolf. Werewolves don’t exist. If you want to kill, kill those wolves roaming the forest.” I argued.

I frowned and looked at Alejandro as he grunted out threateningly. He scowled at me, his eyes warning me to stay quiet. How I could understand him was beyond my understanding but I knew it had something to do with the bite on my neck.

“I will do just that in due time but first, let me kill their precious king.” He said, his eyes pinned on Alejandro.

How could he be a werewolf? Those creatures don’t exist.

Alejandro’s heart-rending cries brought me out of my trance.

The pain was unbearable but I still got up and rushed towards Alejandro even when my conscience advised me to run away while I still can and forget this was all happening. How could I walk away when my heart, out of the blue, had a mind of its own?

I knelt down beside Alejandro and hesitantly touched his shoulder. My heart skipped a beat when he instantly bared his fangs at me, his eyes switching from silver to yellow once again but on realizing that it was me, his cold demeanor drastically changed.

His hard gaze softened while his aggrieved eyes filled up with tears. I grimaced as my chest involuntarily ached and I accidentally blurted out.

“Please, leave him alone.” I raised my voice at the dark clothed man and held onto Alejandro when he groaned.

The man nodded, deep in thought before he smirked.

Unlike Alejandro’s smirk, his looked utterly wicked and ugly as if he wanted nothing but blood. My guess turned out to be right when he finally spoke up.

“On one condition… I want your blood.” And with that, he began laughing darkly. His evil laugh sent a chill down my spine.

I flinched and glanced down at Alejandro when he grabbed my hands. He shook his head and tightened his grip on me.

“It’s been so long since I’ve had human blood.” He stated and flashed me his sharp fangs as his whole eyes blackened.

“You’re a vampire.” I voiced out in shock.

Mate, Lycans, werewolves and vampires, what more do I need before I could tell the world that I was now living in the twilight zone so that I wouldn’t be labeled a classic mental case?

His eyes widened in disbelief. “You know my kind?” He hummed satisfyingly before adding. “Nice! I won’t waste time introducing myself to you then.” With that said, he advanced towards us, more specifically, me but stilled when Alejandro shouted.

“She is my mate, not your blood bank.” Alejandro warned in a pissing tone as he struggled to get up.

“I’m not your mate.” I whispered angrily but still helped him to his feet.

“Do you want to become his blood bank?” He challenged me, the blank look on his face irked me but instead of refuting, I meekly shook my head.

“That’s what I thought.” He muttered before shifting his eyes on the vampire who was fuming silently.

I glared daggers at Alejandro, wishing that the ground would open up and swallow him whole but that could wait since we had yet to quench a vampire’s thirst.

One who was currently craving my blood!
