Seven Seas Entertainment deserves a shoutout too. They've carved a great niche with less mainstream genres—yuri, BL, and some really quirky fantasy titles—and their translation notes are often hilarious. The physical editions are beautiful, but the ebooks are solid. I picked up 'Otherside Picnic' from them and the translator's afterword added so much context. They feel like a publisher run by fans, which I appreciate.
Kodansha's also in the game with platforms like K Manga, but that app is a mess for novels; it's really built for comics. Stick to buying their light novel ebooks through regular retailers like Amazon or Kobo. Honestly, the 'best' platform depends entirely on which specific series you're hunting for. No single store has everything.

My go-to is J-Novel Club, no contest. They've been at this for years, have a really streamlined membership model that lets you read prepub chapters as they're translated, and their final ebooks are consistently well-formatted. I'm a bit partial because I follow a bunch of isekai series they've snapped up, like 'Ascendance of a Bookworm'. The quality control feels tighter than some of the bigger names; you don't get those awkward, clunky phrases that sometimes slip through on other sites.
For complete series and a massive back catalog, you can't ignore Yen Press. They're the powerhouse, owning licenses for everything from 'Spice & Wolf' to 'Sword Art Online'. The trade-off is their digital releases can be pricier, and they don't do the serialized chapter-by-chapter thing J-Novel Club does. I use BookWalker for their stuff because of the frequent coin-back sales, even though their app's reading experience is just... fine. It gets the job done.

I have a different take. I think people sleep on BookWalker because the app interface isn't as slick as Kindle's. But their exclusive digital licenses for some Kodansha and Yen Press titles mean you literally cannot get those books anywhere else legally. Their point system is actually generous if you wait for super sales. I've built my entire digital library there over five years.
The real issue isn't the platform, it's discovery. How do you even know who publishes what? I rely on aggregator sites like NovelUpdates just to track down the official publisher, then I go buy it from their recommended store. It's a two-step process that shouldn't be necessary, but here we are. J-Novel Club's website makes this easiest since they sell directly.

For free samples, nothing beats J-Novel Club's prepub system. You can read hundreds of pages from ongoing translations just by signing up for their free membership tier. It's how I got hooked on 'The Apothecary Diaries' before it blew up. If you want a huge, permanent library, invest in Kindle or Kobo ecosystems. Their apps sync everywhere, and you own the files more securely than on a proprietary platform like BookWalker.

Born with angelic blood, Lixue has lived her entire life bound to a prophecy she never chose. Raised in the countryside among a family who shared her celestial heritage, she was sent to Heaven at the age of seven to serve the Father and awaken the powers hidden within her soul. But a single night of tragedy shattered her peaceful life—demons invaded their ancestral mansion, and in the battle that followed, Lixue lost both her mother and her brother. From that moment on, her heart closed itself to the mortal world.
Haunted by loss and unable to accept death, Lixue disappears into the Philippines, working as a secret agent for her godfather’s underground organization. Her latest mission seems simple: protect Shuji Liao, a world-renowned model, from an unknown stalker. To stay close, she hides her true identity and lives under the same roof as Shuji and his father. But as Lixue investigates, she uncovers a far darker truth—Shuji’s family is entangled in a powerful criminal syndicate that threatens both the mortal and supernatural realms.
Shuji, raised between two countries and burdened by a fractured family, finds his once-stable life unraveling. A mysterious incident alters his heart, pulling him away from his girlfriend and toward the woman sworn only to protect him. What begins as duty slowly turns into forbidden love.
Unbeknownst to Shuji, a single kiss seals their fate.
The prophecy awakens, revealing its cruel demand: Lixue must love Shuji and bear a child destined to save the world from demons, devils, and ancient evils that walk the Earth. But salvation always comes at a price. After their child is born, Lixue vanishes—erased like a dream at dawn—leaving behind a son, a broken lover, and a world saved by a sacrifice no one will ever forget.

Don't you get a bit annoyed some times when cliched novels, seemingly create characters just to misuse and dump them in the middle of a story?
They say novels are an inaccurate of past pieces of history from different alternate universes, well this agent is here to make things right.

I Joined a Dating Sim Game and Got the Horror Boss Instead

I transmigrated into a dating-sim otome game where I was supposed to romance a soft, fragile male lead. I had finally pushed him onto the bed and was just about to make my move when the long-missing system finally popped back online.
[Host, I sent you to the wrong game. This is a horror game.]
[The man you’re bullying right now is the horror game final boss.]
I lifted my head and met a pair of blood-red eyes staring straight at me.
My smile froze. “Um… you look a little tired. Maybe we should… continue this another day?”
He smiled back, calm and terrifying. “I’m not tired. Go on.”
