What Privacy Settings Does My Reading BL Offer For BL Collections?

Just dove into My Reading BL's library and am loving it, but my friend circle's a bit mixed. Are the collection visibility options adjustable, maybe private lists? Honestly, the idea of someone accidentally spotting my Boys' Love manga stash is mildly panic-inducing!

Honestly? I think it's a bit of an illusion. You can hide titles from your public shelves, but if you rate or review something, that's often still visible. I wouldn't rely on it for true anonymity, especially if you're in a community where that matters. Use a pseudonym and be careful what you interact with publicly on the forums.

The mental load of managing privacy is real. Sometimes I just want to read without performing a risk assessment on every tap. Lately, I've been using the app more for discovery and then just tracking my actual reading in a simple notes file on my computer.

It's pretty good! You can also make your profile itself private, which means only approved followers can see anything. That's the nuclear option if you're super worried. Then you can still have public and private shelves within that. I have mine set that way because I use it as a true reading diary, not a social platform. I follow a few review bloggers, but no one follows me back. It's a peaceful, private little corner of the internet for my reading habits.

I just checked mine. Under Settings > Privacy, you can toggle: 'Make my profile public', 'Show my reading activity', 'Let others see my library', and 'Allow follows without request'. You can also manage visibility per bookshelf. It's all pretty straightforward once you find the menu.

You can definitely manage it. Just know it's not retroactive for old activity. If you've been using the account publicly for months and then switch settings, your past activity might still be visible in feeds until it gets pushed down by newer activity. For a clean start, some people just create a new account once they understand the privacy settings. That way, there's no old data lingering. It's a hassle, but it's the only way to guarantee a completely private history from day one.

What privacy settings matter when reading mature manga online?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) on any account you create is a must. If a site gets hacked and your password is exposed, having 2FA on prevents someone from logging in as you and seeing your reading history or personal details. Use an authenticator app, not SMS, for the best security.

How do users share curated BL reading lists on My Reading BL?

Discord bots, my friend. Some dedicated servers have bots where you can link directly to your My Reading BL list, and it'll pull the cover and description into the chat. It turns a static list into a conversation starter right there in the server.

What privacy settings block how to read unsent messages on messenger?

Lately I've been poking around my phone settings to see exactly what can stop someone — or me — from reading a message that was 'unsent' in Messenger. The biggest practical blocker is notification previews: if your device shows message content on the lock screen or in banners, that text can be read even after the sender deletes it. So the simplest privacy setting to control is the preview behavior on your phone. On iOS you can set notification previews to 'When Unlocked' or 'Never,' and on Android you can turn off pop-up previews and clear or disable the notification history feature. Doing that reduces the chance that a deleted message was already captured by a push notification. Beyond OS-level previews, Messenger and other apps can be given permission to show content in notifications or be granted access to your notifications by third-party apps. Any app with notification access (like clipboard managers or notification-logging utilities) can keep a record of incoming messages, so revoking notification access for untrusted apps is another effective privacy setting. Also, in Messenger itself, using conversation settings like disappearing messages or avoiding 'vanish mode' if you don't want transient copies helps — but note that unsend intentionally removes the message from both sides of the chat, so the only common leak vectors are external (notifications, screenshots, backups). Practically speaking, to block ways of reading unsent messages I turned off lock screen previews, disabled notification history, and checked which apps have notification access. I also stopped allowing detailed previews in Messenger's notifications. Those steps won't change how Messenger handles unsent messages server-side, but they stop most accidental or automated reads of content that was later removed — and that gives me a bit more peace of mind when chats get messy.

Does My Reading BL support linking to external BL reading sites?

This discussion is making me realize how much we've normalized being trapped in walled gardens. Remember when the web was about linking freely? Now every app is its own little island. It's frustrating when you find a great series and want to share where else it's available, but the platform's rules actively prevent that discovery. It feels anti-community, even if it's pro-business. I get why they do it, but it still sucks. The best communities are those that trust their users to share resources responsibly. Heavy-handed link policing just breeds resentment and pushes discussion to outside platforms anyway. If 'My Reading BL' is smart, they'd have a curated 'where to read officially' page instead of banning links. But most aren't that forward-thinking.
