Chapter 61

Zuriel gets on his flank, an elbow on the mattress as he holds his head. I smile at him and lean in to press my lips against his. He responds by deepening the kiss, pushing his tongue between my lips, and exploring my mouth with his tongue. I shiver with pleasure. We pull apart after a few seconds.

" I'm glad and grateful that you are my second chance mate," I say. He pecks my neck and lies on his back, facing the ceiling. He has a slight smile on his lips. I loved his smile so much.

" You are taking it well."

" Of course. I feel blessed. I didn't expect my wife to be my mate,"

It is my turn to get in a flank position, frowning.

" Did you think you'd be mated to someone else?"

He frowns, too. Turning his gaze on me,

" I didn't care for mates, nor did I think I'd have one," he says casually.

" Really? Why?"

" Well, because I'm different, Elara," he says, suddenly getting serious. I narrow my gaze and sit up. He does, too. Our faces are close.
