The moment I stepped out of the Uber, I just stood there in front of the hospital like a statue. The building hadn’t changed. Same peeling paint, same small, sad sign hanging off a rusted hinge. I felt like I had been teleported back in time to the exact day I got diagnosed. I closed my eyes for a second, breathed in the stale hospital air, and slowly walked through the glass doors.
It wasn’t a big or busy hospital. It was a private clinic that used to be the best in town, clean, organized, full of hope. But now, it was slowly dying just like the patients it used to save.
