MARK DICKSON’S POV

I am a feared and respected don but yet, my father still nagged at me.

‘Marriage? What do these old men see in marriage?’ Ladies are weak and I don't want anyone tying me down.

They are just tools to relieve my urges. I didn't grow up to have a mother but rather I was happy I still had my grandma. She was the only lady who earned my respect and love, no one else deserved it.

I had a lady to pick up from the airport which was very irritating and a waste of time. Arriving at the airport to pick the lady whom my grandfather had arranged for me to meet. Like it wasn't bad enough, a lady bumped into me, her long brunette hair, blue dull eyes. It was as if she hadn't slept for ages and her skin looked pale m

‘If she eats more maybe, I believe her curves will be damn irresistible.’ Shit! What was I thinking?

Just then, we froze in place, gazing keenly into each other's eyes. I jolted back to reality but she remained dumbstruck like it was a movie scene.

“Are you blind lady?” I asked as I studied her facial expressions. From the look on her face, I could see she was confused, which irritated me.

It's as if she could see through me even though I know I kept a face as blank as an untouched canvas.

‘Who is this dangerous thorn flower? I would love to see the face she'd make when angered or provoked.’ The mischievous side of me was at work.

“Disgusting!” I hollered bluntly, there I just did the magic, she was back to reality. She straightened herself up and gave me a glare which for no reason made me excited.

She was too close, I had to toss her aside but immediately I did, a warmth I got accustomed to within the few minutes of close proximity, was replaced by a cold breeze.

“Don't you have any respect for a lady?” she asked, anger evident on her face. From her tone,  I knew she would love to attack me.

“Women are a waste of time.” I flashed her a smirk and she was lost in thoughts again.

‘what is this thorn flower thinking about? I hope she hasn't stupidly created a world of fantasy in her head.’

I glanced at my watch and realized time was running very fast. I didn't want to pick any fucking lady but it seemed my old man wanted my to kill him before I could have my peace.

I began to walk away until I felt a pair of tiny, yet strong arms grip my calf. I glanced down at a little boy who had the same hair, skin tone and eyes like the lady I pushed.

They both had a striking resemblance. ‘Who could be the father of this child?’ I asked myself as I clenched my fist.

“You wicked monster, you pushed my mum!” I heard the little boy yell angrily with a grumpy face.

I felt a little bit proud of him but yet again he wasn't my son. I would have trained him on how to use a gun.

“I–I'll make you pay, hmph.” I chuckled inwardly. If this little boy knew what I was capable of, would he still repeat what he had said?

The next moment, his fine set of milk teeth dug deep into my skin through my pants and I didn't bulge. ‘Is this how he intends to make me pay?’ His bravery was amusing and my gaze lingered on him as he ran into the waiting arms of his mother.

‘This is going to be interesting,’ I thought to myself as I exited the scene without sparing them another glance. I headed to the rendezvous point and there I saw the lady who my grandpa had set me up with.

She looked worse than thorn flower, as she layered her already ugly face with heavy make up.

A mischievous thought ran through my head. ‘Run five fingers across her face so she could look like an Halloween character,’ but I brushed it off to avoid provoking my old man.

“Hi Mark, I'm—-” Before she could continue, I interrupted her.

“Yes Miss Donna, I know. Now let's get going, my grandpa would be happy to meet you.” I said and started walking as fast as I could.

“But mmm— won't you try helping me, Mark?” I heard her ask and I glared at her.

“Leave it there, I'll send someone to get it for you.” I uttered and kept going, while she tried to catch up with me.

Reaching the parking lot, the car door was opened for me. I stepped in and she followed suit. The thought of sitting side-by-side with this lady made my stomach churn but I knew I had to bear it for a few minutes.

“To the main Villa.” I ordered and the driver understood immediately.

“Get someone to get her things.” I instructed one of my men before leaning backwards.

I had nothing to say to this lady who just sat cluelessly like a dumb ass. She seemed boring and I preferred thorn flower who was dogged.

Her face kept showing up in my head, her lips were what sparked my desire.

If I ever get my hands on her, I'm afraid I will make her cry a lot. I thought to myself trying to imagine how her face would be when I make her cry in the future, if we ever cross paths.

Fuck! What am I thinking? The ride was quiet, which I liked. Reaching the main Villa, I escorted Miss Donna to meet my grandparents and disappeared with an excuse which I guess they were fond of.

“Tell Nick to get the suspect down to my place, unnoticed.” I commanded and gazed outside the car.

The driver nodded his head, “Yes boss.”

I smiled. “Boss, should I drive to vila?” I nodded, as I closed my eyes, trying to sleep which I knew was impossible.

The driver pulled up at the villa and I didn't wait for the door to be pulled open. I alighted and went straight into the house because there were many things to do.

The next morning, after my usual routine I went to my basement which wasn't actually a basement because it was an extension of a room completely similar to mine. ‘The best way to keep something hidden is to keep it in a not so secluded place which would be difficult to suspect.’

I sat on a clean seat made available by my men and gazed keenly at the man who was tied to a chair with a gauze over his mouth.

“What’s the third rule, bastard?” I asked in a low tone, stretching forth my hand for my men to hand me a knife and they did without wasting time.

I didn't get any answers from him, though his mouth was gagged. I knew what it was but he broke it and the penalty for breaking any rule is death.

He shook his head with fright in his eyes as I approached him with predator-like steps. He wiggled in his seat but couldn't break free and with a face as blank as slate, I slashed his neck, mercilessly.

He let out a piercing scream as he took his last breath but his voice wasn't the only one. My gaze darkened as it darted  across the room and settled on a figure by the door.

Fortnightly it was my little thorn flower. What an interesting day.
