I was able to locate the chapel building, eventhough it's been so many years since I crossed this part. The once lively chapel where children, adults,young teenagers hovered around, those times when life still felt safe.
But now, the chapel building looked old and rejected as it stood like a forgotten wound on the edge the city. The racked stained-glass windows, overgrown ivy clawing at its stone frame, and a rusted iron gate that whined as I pushed it open.
I stood at its threshold, my heart hammering in the walls of my chest, one foot on crumbling stone, the other still firmly planted in the reality I’d come from. The wind blew, it was colder here. Or maybe that was just my fear breathing down my neck.
I convinced Ethan I had to do this alone. That Luna would bolt at the first sign of his presence. But I also knew he was nearby. I could feel him—watching, waiting, and I could also imagine that focused expression on his face with that burning need to protect me.
