Since they hadn’t reached home yet, Alex kept calling out to him, as if he couldn’t get enough.
He knew that once they arrived, he wouldn’t be able to say it so openly. His mommy hadn’t agreed yet.
Justin understood as well and didn’t ask Alex why he knew the truth.

By the time Justin returned with Alex, everyone was already seated in the living room, waiting.
Justin held Alex’s hand and led him to Haley.
“I brought him back safe and sound. He’s just a little dirty, but don’t worry. I already checked him in the car—he’s not hurt.”

Haley pulled him into her arms, unable to shake the lingering
