"He's been unconscious since the attack." Daniel's words echoed in my mind, setting off alarms I thought I'd silenced.
I'd told myself repeatedly to stop caring about Arthur. To move on. But hearing he was hurt, my wolf reacted instantly—a conditioned reflex built over our years together. My heart raced, and Cora whimpered anxiously inside me.
I grabbed my car keys, my movements automatic and urgent. "At the medical center? I'll be right there," I confirmed, surprising myself with how calm I sounded despite the panic bubbling beneath my skin.
The drive to the Wolf Medical Center passed in a blur. My thoughts raced dangerously. Who would dare attack Arthur Moonstone? As Alpha King, he was the most powerful wolf in the territory. The attack must have been significant to leave him unconscious for so long.
Despite mentally preparing myself during the drive, seeing Arthur was still a shock. He sat on the hospital bed, unusually pale, staring blankly out the window while
