The moment the horn faded away, silence fell again. It wasn't suffocating like the others, and I wasn't sure if the fact that it was different meant something good. The air was still and behind me, I couldn't hear so much as a single sound and that didn't sound too good. I couldn't place it, but there was something about the atmosphere, like it was expectant. It felt like the world was holding its breath, waiting to see whether I'd finally rise or break.
A shudder raced down my spine, and that was when I realized I was trembling. I wasn't sure if it was from the poison still lingering in my veins or the two trials I'd barely survived. Either way, I was out of breath, and there was still one more trial to go.
