“Thank you for taking them fishing, you didn’t have to,” I said.
Mikhail smiled, “They are my blood, and of course I would love to do anything to make them happy,”
His eyes lingered on them. Today had been so exciting that they had been knocked out immediately we carried them home.
“Rosanne,” he called in a calm voice.
I shook my head, trying to fight the image that was threatening to form in my mind. The kiss had been embedded in my mind, like a spell that couldn’t be broken.
“How long,” he said in a calm tone, taking a step closer to where I stood.
“How long what?” I asked, my voice soft, barely above a whisper.
“How long are you going to pretend like you don’t feel this between us,” he said, his hand grabbing my wrist.
His touch burned, but not the scathing burn that makes you want to recoil in pain. It was the soothing heat you felt on a cold winter night.
