The silence in the room demanded that my mind speak to me about everything that was happening. The only sound that showed me mercy was that of the leaves outside, lulling me into light drowsiness and urging my thoughts to drift. But it didn’t work. It wasn’t enough. I needed something more.
I was lying on my bed, missing Bright’s presence. Meanwhile, my only attempt at distraction was the windowpane, fogged up by the contrast between the warm air inside and the cold of the night. I still couldn’t fall asleep. I couldn’t stop thinking about Bright. Having him in my head was fucking frustrating. I hated loving him this much.
After he left the room following our argument, I stayed quiet, waiting for him to come back, but he didn’t. He didn’t even want to eat dinner with the whole family. I waited for him at the table because I didn’t dare go to the guest room and find him there. But he never showed up. Waiting only brought more silence and a chaotic whirlwind inside my chest.
