Kane's POV
It's been over a week since she was brought back to the Pack. Over a week since I last spoke to Alec.
We talked, but not as best friends should.
Why should a woman even be the cause of a rift between us? I wished I cared but I didn't. Rain didn't cause a rift between us—it was he who caused it on his own.
By himself.
“Good morning, Alpha Kane.”
“Good morning to you too—” I looked up and met the gaze of my guard. “Is there a problem?”
There became a confused look on his countenance. Then he began. “It was you who asked me to be here as soon as I could yesterday night. You mentioned there's something you would love me to do for you, my lord.”
Oh.
I recalled.
“Yes. There's something I need you to do for me. That'll be bringing Rain over here. You're another person I can trust with her, but you must be very careful while holding her. Even though she's fully recovered, I don't want her to be stressed. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?”
He bowed. “Yes, my lord.
