“What is happening?” I asked Vadirr impatiently, resisting the urge to push him out of the way and just run after my mate. It was useless because there were at least ten other guards that would prevent me from running even if I did somehow try to get away from Vadirr. I knew we were under attack, but I needed to know by whom and why. The women around me murmured amongst themselves, and I could feel their fear and agitation.
