I looked at the USBs with a frown.
It had been hours since Luca had left the club.
“Why don't you see what's on the USBs?” asked Nicola with arched eyebrows.
“Because I don't know if they have any viruses affecting our networks and systems,” I said seriously.
“Well, I'll send for a new, offline computer, and we'll check it out, and then after we see the USBs, we'll burn it, shall we?” asked Nicola sarcastically.
“Do the needful,” I said. "I want Paolo here; like it or not, he's the one who can help us crack something encrypted. We need to keep that in mind."
“Right,” Nicola said.
Two hours later and with three shots of whiskey in my system, I welcomed Paolo, who sat down to set up the computer Nicola got. The man set up some response protocols in case the USB contained some kind of data-stealing virus or something like that.
I just waited patiently until Paolo gave me the job.
