Sabrina sat at her desk, clicking through a report that honestly didn’t need as much focus as she was pretending to give it.
The office was calm for once. No one arguing. No one knocking things over. Just keyboards tapping and soft chatter.
Across from her, Alicia leaned back in her chair, stretching.
“You look weirdly rested today,” Alicia said.
Sabrina glanced up. “Do I?”
“Yeah. Like, your eyes aren’t screaming.”
“I slept at Josh and Daniel’s place.”
Alicia raised a brow immediately. “Oh?”
“Not like that,” Sabrina said quickly. “I just didn’t want to be alone.”
“Mm-hmm. And that has nothing to do with Josh being tall and fine?”
Sabrina gave her a look. “Seriously.”
Alicia laughed. “Okay, okay. But for real, why’d you stay there? You never sleep over unless something’s wrong.”
Sabrina hesitated, then shrugged. “The power went out. And I was too tired to deal with it.”
Alicia didn’t look fully convinced, but she nodded. “Still a better excuse than ‘the vibes were off.’ I’ll allow it.”
