It takes all my strength and courage as I step forward, reach up, and tiptoe to close the gap between Pyke and me. I tug his hair, clinging into him. Pressing my lips into his soft and slightly parted lips as he gasps in surprise. I brush my lips across him in a tentative motion. To my dismay, he’s not kissing me back.
