He was silent. He didn't say anything else. Not even when I set down the coffee next to him. Not even when I slipped out of the room. There was now a thick, crackling tension in the room. Julio's eyes which were heated but not icy or furious followed me. It was burning and starved.
“ Leave it,” he said roughly when I came back to check if he was done. I wanted to return to the solace of my studio and draw to keep my mind busy. If Julio was angry, the whole place suddenly becomes hot and boring and now I wanted to go outside and walk in the garden instead of going to the studio. It was the call thsr had made him furious.
I slowly turned around.
“You're against it?”
I looked into his dark eyes. “The council can go to hell and there's no way I am ever going to that fucking place.”
He rose from the couch in one fluid motion before I could say anything and stood inches from me.
He touched my jaw with his firm but soft fingers. I felt his thumb graze my lips.
