Jessie’s POV
“Jessie?”
I froze, my heart skipping a beat.
It was Ryan Cookie, my ex-boyfriend. His familiar face brought a rush of memories and emotions I wasn’t prepared for.
Emotions I, in fact, didn’t want to deal with.
So slowly, I retraced my steps and backed away but almost immediately, his firm grip on my arm stopped me.
“Don’t walk away from me,” he bellowed, “I came here to talk.”
“I can’t talk right now,” I replied quickly, moving to turn away.
“I said wait!” Ryan repeated, dragging me back.
“Ryan, why are you doing this? What do you want?”
“I heard something unbelievable, and I’m here to confirm it.”
“But what’s that got to do with me?”
“Everything.” He bellowed, his eyes scanning my left fingers, then a mocking smile spread on his face. “I guess it is not true.”
“I knew no one in their right senses would want anything to do with you.”
I didn’t know if to be insulted or offended by his words, I just wanted to leave here and go to Gavin.
