William could only sigh helplessly at the closed door of his mother’s room.
He would have followed her if there was any chance of her listening to him, but he knew there wasn’t. So, he went back to his room.
He then texted his father, “Dad, are you awake?”
William was scared as he waited for his father to text back.
Having lived with him, he knew how busy he could get. But he could not help feeling anxious about his supposed engagement.
His mother did not affect his decisions or his mood a lot.
But he respected his father a great deal. He could not disregard his opinions, especially since he had never asked him for anything.
His father replied after ten odd minutes. “What is it, Liam? I just wrapped up a meeting.”
“Are you busy? I wanted to ask something. It can wait till tomorrow if you are busy.”
“That’s fine. I’m waiting for my dinner now. It’ll take another fifteen minutes.”
William then called his father directly.
