It had been several days since Lena had last relied on medication to sleep, but after everything that had happened tonight, it would be hard to fall asleep naturally.
She sighed, opened her pillbox, and was about to take a tablet when a knock came at the door.
Her body tensed. She looked toward the door. “Who is it?”
“It’s me. Are you still up?”
Upon hearing her cousin Scott’s voice, Lena let out a quiet breath.
She pulled a long-sleeved shirt over her pajamas before going to open the door, smiling as she asked why he wasn’t asleep yet.
Scott said he’d only caught a quick glimpse of her earlier and hadn’t had a chance to talk, so he came by before bed to check in on her.

It had been a long time since they’d last seen each other. After some brief pleasantries, Scott got straight to the point: “When I called you earlier, you said you were going home. Why did you suddenly come to the estate?”
