But I stopped.
A flash of the memory crossed my mind, the man who had been following me weeks ago. The feeling I couldn’t shake off throughout that day, even though i wasnt really sure. Then… Connor. Kyla’s friend.
I'm not sure I should be suspicious of him, but his voice was unsettling. Then again, it was all in my head. I was probably in a bad state and was paranoid.
I shook my head quickly. No. It couldn’t have been Connor. Kyla had only just introduced us that day, he wouldn’t have known about my existence before that. Right?
“I don’t know,” I said finally, my voice smaller than I wanted it to be.
But even as the words left my mouth, a cold, crawling sensation spread across my back. The weird feeling swallowed me again. That I was being watched.
That someone had been tracking me all this time, waiting for the right moment to do something like this. And for the love of God, I couldn't figure out why.
