Abbot jerked backward, almost reeling over and he knew at once that he was in trouble. But how could she break the chains? They’d injected her with enough wolfsbane to kill a wolf and still she was this strong?
Abbot stepped back a bit and watched Melissa who just stood there silently, breathing. Her breaths were steady and a low growl could be heard from within it. She was tired and she could barely take a step, she probably had used all her strength trying to wrench off the metal.
She took a step forward and fell down to the floor.
“My lady,” Jacob said from the iron. “Please, do not hurt yourself,” he exhaled and then turned to look at Abbot. “But do not give up!” He roared. Then his eyes glowed and Abbot could see the veins around the corner of his eyes turn black, he was in more pain than she should be with that silly defiance he was trying to portray.
Once hit with a wolfsbane, wolves try as much as possible not to turn because that way it is less painful and kills them slow
