"My goodness! I'm so jealous."
"Derek is asking her out. I wish that was me."
"Did he like her all along?"
I was hopeful that Scarlet would accept to go on a date with me. I was confident she wasn't going to turn me down, especially as there were many people here. I had no idea what gave me the confidence, but somehow, I was.
She stared at me, her eyes boring into mine. Her expression was unreadable, but one thing I knew was that she didn't like this.
Slowly, the noise faded with each passing second, the atmosphere became tense as everyone waited for her to accept the flower.
My heart pounded hard in my chest nervously, as I prayed silently that nothing would go wrong. I wouldn't be able to deal with the humiliation if she rejects me here.
"Derek..." She paused and exhaled before she continued. "I'm sorry, but I can't accept this. I can't."
