Nora visibly blanched when she heard the announcement.
“Why are you being called? What's the problem? Do you think something happened? Is this about your results?” She paled even more at the last question.
“Relax. I'm sure it's nothing serious. You're buying me lunch if it's Octavia. I know it's her and her antics. I did very well—it's not about my results.”
“I hope so too.”
Alice walked into the office where the secretary directed her into the main office, and there sat her stepmother and her daughter.
Their faces were grim as they sat in the chair like they hadn't committed the most heinous acts ever.
“Alice, there you are. Have a seat,” the head of department said to Alice.
“You must be wondering why I called you here.” He paused.
“Well, there seems to be an issue between you and your sister.”
“Stepsister,” Alice corrected.
“Excuse me?”He looked confused.
“You said sister. She's my stepsister.”
Victoria's lips tightened as she listened to Alice.
