Sylvester’s POV.
I stepped out for lunch, though I wasn’t really hungry. My mind wasn’t on food. It was still on her—on Natasha. The conversation we had last night played over and over in my head, like a film I couldn’t turn off. The way she looked at me when she said she felt something too. The way she pulled back right after, like she regretted letting it slip.
Was she trying to push me away? Or was she just scared of where this was heading? I couldn’t blame her if she was. Nothing about the way we started made sense, and now we were walking into something neither of us planned for.
I picked at my food, barely tasting it, lost in thought. Even in a quiet restaurant with no one asking anything of me, I felt restless.
When I returned to the office, my assistant greeted me with a few papers in hand. “Sir, the legal team sent over the early contract review for tomorrow’s board. No changes yet, just a note to keep you updated.”
I nodded, taking the file. “Thanks.”
