Amelia's POV
The night before I was supposed to be taken to the Baroque pack, an unexpected knock came at the back door of the palace.
Kayden and I exchanged a short look, our nerves on edge from the events of the past days. Kayden moved to answer it, gesturing for me to stay back. He opened the door slowly, and there stood Alpha Waylen.
"Waylen," Kayden growled, stepping protectively in front of me.
“How are you here?” He asked sharply. Waylen sighed and rubbed his hands together.
"What do you want?" Kayden asked again before Waylen got the opportunity to answer.
Waylen raised his hands in a gesture of peace. "I mean no harm. I came bearing a gift."
Behind Waylen, the children walked out from behind him, looking unharmed but confused.
“Ohhh.” I exclaimed with pleasure.
