Emma’s POV
Couples walking hand in hand, kids pulling at their parents, and friends giggling over coffee made the mall a hive of activity. I felt oddly distant from the routine of it all, as though I were traversing a world that was no longer mine.
I only partially listened to Abigail as she talked about a new shop she wanted to check out next to me. After my last talk with Alex, I was so overwhelmed by the jumble of emotions that my thoughts were elsewhere.
