As I walked towards Asher, my lips parted into a warm smile.
"Someone is here to see you," I said to him without breaking my stride while he nodded his head in response.
Deep within me, my heart was swirling in satisfaction.
Just before I could take the bend that leads to my garden, I turned back to take a final glimpse of Lena's expression.
Behold, she was still wearing her shocked look, and she seemed lost in a daze as she stared at me.
The sight of her like that made my lips curl even further.
As soon as I was out of sight, I sashayed straight into the garden, where Hannah was already seated on the hanging egg chair, waiting for me, and I quickly settled into the one next to her.
"What is Lena doing here?" Hannah's voice dripped with urgency as she searched my calm face.
But then, I picked up the glass of apple juice on my side table and took a sip. I twirled the liquid for a few seconds before swallowing it, relishing the sweetness and freshness of the juice.
