I carried Sylvia’s unconscious form toward the main entrance, her body disturbingly light in my arms. She’d lost at least twenty pounds since I’d last held her, and the sharp angles of her shoulder blades pressed against my chest like broken wings.
Rico was waiting by the front door with three of his men, all of them looking grim. The compound’s surviving guards were zip-tied and lined up against the wall like a police lineup, most of them sporting fresh injuries from their ‘conversation’ with Rico’s team.
