I stood in front of the mirror, my hands wandering over my stomach as if feeling for something that shouldn't be there. My fingers sailed reluctantly, pressing lightly over my naked form. It was still flat, still the same, but it didn't feel like me anymore.
How could something be growing inside me, and yet I still looked the same? That has to be the work of the Devil.
The thought made my throat tighten. I swallowed, willing myself to breathe, but my chest wouldn't budge. My lungs seemed to collapse inward, refusing to expand fully no matter how desperately I tried to fill them with air.
