Hazel’s eyes fluttered open as she stirred awake, but her lashes brushed against something, an obstacle.
She forced her eyes and senses to focus, but the world around her was enveloped by a thick darkness. She could see nothing.
She tried to move her body, but her joints cried out in pain and protest, and moving, each of her limbs was a strong tassel.
She had attempted to lift her legs too, but her limbs were heavy like lead, its weight dragging her down.
Her body ached in various places, and she was sure that the burning sensation she was feeling on her skin was from all the bruises she had gotten but had to endure.
She tried once again to lift her hands and only realized then that they were bound behind her back.
