Leo didn’t put me down until we were in the suite and the door slammed behind us. He dropped me on the bed like I weighed nothing and shut the suite door with a soft click.
“You didn’t have to carry me,” I said.
“You didn’t have to curse out my ex either.”
“She started it.”
“You finished it. Loudly.”
Leo loosened his tie and dropped it on the chair. “You’re lucky I don’t care what anyone thinks.”
“You’re lucky I didn’t pour that wine on her head.”
“You’re lucky I’m still paying you.”
I looked at him and I didn’t blink. “Then fire me. Cancel the deal.”
He stepped closer. “You want that?”
“Do you?”
We stood there breathing hard. His chest rose and mine followed and the silence between us wasn’t silent at all.
I kicked off my heels and stood there, heart still racing. I should have been embarrassed but I wasn’t. I was angry and drunk and turned on and I didn’t want to think about why.
“That Cindy bitch deserved it,” I said. “She’s lucky I didn’t smash a wine glass over her head.”
