Summer POV
“Vampire wings would be amazing right now,” Estelle said, struggling to get to the upper-level window.
“Why can’t I stand on your shoulders?” I grunted.
“I’m lighter.”
“Ugh, says who?”
Ezra was in the car. He was the getaway driver. After I was kidnapped he wouldn’t let me travel at night even when I told him I would be with Estelle tonight. He thought I was a defenceless puppy out in the rain. He wouldn't take me seriously if he saw me now behind the house with my sister on my shoulders.
He gave us thirty minutes to check on my Dad before he stepped in and ordered Marcella to let us. Frankly, that would be easier than this. He abandoned his meeting to be with me. He didn’t tell them what we were up to because Rachel would have alerted her Mother.
I don’t want to overthink this but Marcella gave me no choice. Maybe she just wanted me out of the picture entirely. She made it clear she didn’t like me when I showed up here several months ago.
