Summer POV
“How’s my Dad sure it’s them?” I asked.
Ezra gripped the stirring wheel and drove passed the turn to the mansion.
“Ezra, where are we going?”
“We’re not going home, are you crazy?”
“Why did we leave your Aunt’s house then?”
He pushed the car close to its limits. If I wasn’t strapped to a seatbelt I might have flown into the dashboard. I gripped Ezra’s thigh. I felt his fear, need to protect and his anxiety all at once. His emotions were intense and I felt them strongly. The emotions went to my head. I gripped my forehead.
“Hmm, slow down, Ezra, please.”
He eased on the accelerator. He drove off the road and parked on the dirt.
I leaned my head on the cold window.
“Summer.”
“Just give me a moment.” I’ve wanted to throw up all evening but I’d barely eaten. I struggled to control my breathing because I feared I would throw up and pass out.
Ezra rubbed my thigh as I controlled my breathing.
“I’m sorry. I know you felt that. I don’t want any harm to come to you and our baby.”
