Lisa’s POV
Of all the faces I expected to see when Jocelyn stepped out of that room, hers wasn’t one of them.
Selena.
She was here. Out of every place in this entire world, she was here standing beside Jocelyn like she's known her for ages. Like she’d always belonged.
My heart sank, and I didn’t realize how tightly I was gripping the strap of my bag until my knuckles ached.
Selena’s eyes flicked up, landing on me.

Just enough to let me know she saw the shock in my face.
“Oh hey,” she said, like this was casual. Like we were old friends meeting at brunch.
Jocelyn pulled me into a hug so suddenly, I didn’t even register it until her perfume filled my lungs and her arms were around me.
“My darling,” Jocelyn said sweetly, genuine as always. “I’m so glad you made it.”
