Ava's POV
I sat on the porch, the cool breeze brushing against my skin as the scent of flowers filled my lungs, as I admired the garden…or at least I should have been enjoying it.
A faint silver glow from the crescent moon cast shadows on the empty garden. My mother's words kept playing in my head, my mind clouded with unsettling thoughts.
I kept telling myself that he had nothing to do with this, that they were just the works of rogues but I couldn't shake the feeling off, that something about him was different.
It wasn't like I knew him well enough and I couldn't have known him fully just by having sex with him.
Why do I feel uneasy? Is it something I should be worried about?
I had called him, asking him to see me as soon as he had time…but I knew that wasn't going to happen any time soon.
He wouldn’t be coming right away. “What is going on?” I muttered under my breath.
I placed my hand on my stomach, a faint smile playing on my lips as I rubbed my hand through on my belly.
