I had decided a while ago that I wasn't going to be helpless anymore, searching for who was going to save me. No, I was going to fight with every ounce of strength in my body.
I reached out to my bedside table, haphazardly feeling around until my hand wrapped around the base of my bedside lamp. I held on to it, pressed my eyes shut, and swung with all of my might.
Glass shattered as the lamp made contact with my assailant. It didn't exactly throw them off me, but it gave me the opening I needed. I picked up a glass shard, and this time, I didn't bother shutting my eyes because I needed to be sure of where I wanted to hit.
The darkness receded as the pressure on my neck decreased, and my eyes seemed to adjust a little to the darkness, because I could now clearly see the silhouette of the person on top of me. Their face was strategically covered with some kind of cloth, leaving space for their eyes and nose. But their neck was very visible.
