At the close of school, Lucas sat inside his car and stared at the entrance of the school, waiting for Kayla to come out. He had thought of just sitting on the trunk of the car while he waited, but he decided against it. He would be too visible, and he was still careful about Derrick seeing him with Kayla.
He had noticed her staring at him in the cafeteria during lunch. He had initially thought that she wanted to get naughty with him, as he was already thinking of where they could do it. But then he smiled at her, and he noticed that she immediately looked away. Something was definitely off with her.
Was she still feeling bad about yesterday? It really wasn't a big deal, but perhaps he needed to talk to her again today and assure her that he wasn't mad at all and that he understood why she had reacted the way she did, and he did understand.
