I opened the pack house door slowly, not to wake anyone. With our hypersensitive hearing a small bang could wake our neighbors. Brandon was passed out on a couch in our sitting room. He probably refused to leave, but Jax refused to let him in her room.
I walked up five flights of stairs, drowning myself deeper in their scents. Once I reached her door I opened it softly, afraid of what I would find. I knew she was here, so that was enough for now.
Jax laid peacefully at her side, wrapping her small body in his. I shook my head how quickly he became possessive of her. Maverick purred at his loyalty to our pup, but I was still pissed.
