Aurora’s POV
Scarlet kept insisting that I had sneaked out of the pack without Asher's notice. She told me how Asher had threatened to burn down the pack when I went missing a few months back.
“That was then, things have changed now. He knows I can handle myself," I shrugged while she rolled her eyes, hugging herself firmly.
For the next few minutes, we kept talking until a maid came for her.
Soon it was nightfall.
Staring out of my window, I watched the moon that was hung high in the sky, casting it's silver streaks across my bedroom floor.
Everything was quiet now. It was the kind of silence that pressed against ones chest and made breathing difficult for them.
To stop my thoughts from spiralling, I wanted to get some sleep but I couldn't.
My mind kept going to the brief encounter with father and the more I thought of it, the clearer it became.
At first, I didn't take note of it but now, I could remember clearly the way his eyes had lingered on mine earlier.
