"Nice shot," Lila said with a clap. I smiled.
"Thanks, babe." I arched my bow and took a stance. Just then I felt a presence. Although it was faint, there was no way I'd mistake that scent for someone's.
I whirled around, locking gazes with the one person who had dominated my thoughts all day. He was with someone. Seeing how close they seemed, I felt a knot tighten in my throat.
I leaned in towards Lila. "Here, you can continue. I'd like some alone time." And with that, I raced into the woods without looking back.
