“Are you sure you want to come up?”
Julian asked with a quiet smile, already leading the way across the luxurious hotel lobby. Rae trailed behind us, her fingers brushing mine every few steps. They had convinced me to join them and I'd willingly obliged.
“I’ve come this far,” I replied, then caught my own double meaning. “Not that way, well, I mean—”
Julian snorted. “Too late. I already liked where that was going.”

The elevator was mostly empty. Just us and one bored-looking attendant. I tried not to make eye contact with him, especially when Julian stood behind me and whispered, “You’re still trembling.”

The attendant got off on the seventh floor. Julian waited two seconds before pulling me against him.
