Chapter 57

Aunt was all smiles as she walked around to the front of the dining table and lit up the candles on the top tier of the cake. As soon as the servants had switched off the outdoor lights that had been on in the yard, everyone focused their attention on the birthday girl.

Aunt closed her eyes, placed her palms together and mumbled to herself as she made three wishes using a voice only she could hear.

"I hope that my family will live harmoniously and everybody will be safe and sound."

"I hope that my father will live to a ripe old age."

"I hope that Zhengnan and Mengyu will have a baby soon."

After Aunt had finished making her wishes, the guests presently began to sing a birthday song in unison. Tang Mengyu clapped her hands cheerfully and hummed the tune together with everybody else.

The song ended.

"It's time to blow out the candles!" A loud and clear voice resounded through the crowd.

Upon hearing the encouraging voice, Aunt leaned over and took a deep breath, ready to blow out
