Chapter 6: It's a girl

Chloe's POV

I can't believe what happened. My first high school party in a new country and I managed to make a fool out of myself.  This is why I shouldn't be allowed to drink alcohol. I'm shit at holding my liquor and I do stupid shit when I get drunk.

But the worse part of it all, is not being able to remember the shit I'd done.

I should consider myself lucky since he's the one who found me. I could've ended up in a worse situation. Which reminds me, I should probably thank him for last night.

I took my time looking at the pictures that's put on display in their living room while I waited for Mason.

I felt my phone vibrate with Mum's name flashing on the screen. I forgot to check my phone earlier because of the embarrassment I was faced with and the consequences of alcohol.

"Hello?" I hesitantly answered.

"Thank god you answered! I've been calling you since last night. Where are you? Are you okay?" she asked, concern evident in her tone.

"I'm fine. I stayed at a friend's house last night. I had one to many drinks and I wasn't able to call you." I informed her. "Sorry."

"It's okay, I'm just glad you're safe. Where are you now?"

"Still at my friend's house. I'll go straight home after school, okay?"

"Okay... but Chloe, pull that stunt again and that'll be last of it. Got it?" she said; her voice may sound sweet but I didn't miss the warning behind.

"Yeah Mum."

"Okay. See you later sweetie."

"Bye." My parents are usually pretty when it came to parties. As long as I inform them about my where abouts and who I'm with, they're cool with it.

I continued to look at the pictures on display and what caught my attention was a picture of him and a woman; I picked it up. I might still be a bit hangover but the woman in the picture looked really familiar. I feel like I've seen her somewhere.

I heard footsteps going down the stairs and turned to see a well dressed Mason.

"Is this your mum?" I inquired.

"Yeah..."

"She's really pretty." I told him.

"She's dead." he said. I was taken aback by the response he gave.

I wasn't expecting that.

"I'm sorry." I said.

He ignored me.

"Let's go." I followed him out.

*******

"Where did you go last night? When it was time to leave we couldn't find you anywhere, I left you like a bunch of messages." Andy told me.

I took my usual seat in health which was in front of her.

Andy was worried the whole night and said she felt guilty because she was the one who convinced me to go to the party, she also said she felt responsible for me.

I kept telling her I'm fine and that she had nothing to worry about, but she insisted to know what happened to me last night.

So to ease her burden, I ended up telling her the story Mason told me this morning.

"I like you." she said. "Ever since we've met, there's never a dull moment with you."

"Thanks?"

"So, this proves the rumor's true huh?"

"What are you talking about? What rumor?"

"There's a rumor going around that said you slept with Mason last night, and you showing up to school wearing his  shirt and getting out of his car proves them right." she said. Well, she's got a point.

"Technically it's true, but we just slept like sleep together and I don't even remember any it. All I know is I woke up in a stranger's bed this morning, and that stranger happened to be Mason." I answered.

"Whatever you say." she teased.

"It's true!" I argued.

"Uh-huh."

We were on our way to the cafeteria when we passed by a group of students; they whispered amongst themselves and looked at me.

So the drama begins; people, or rather students gossiping about my life and wanting to know every single detail of it just so they could judge me in the end. This is the reason why I wanted to keep a low profile.

Mason's POV

Rain poured out in the afternoon as I rushed my way out into the school parking lot. Practice ended a bit later than expected.

I was on my way home when I passed by a certain Blonde standing outside a Taco Bell, staring up into the sky; clutching a book in her hands.

By the way the rain is pouring, it's not going to stop for some time now so I stopped my car in front of her and rolled my window down.

"Hey Blondie! Need a ride?" I asked.

"Yeah." she smiled.

She quickly ran to the other side of the car as I opened the passenger door for her to get in.

"Thanks." she said.

"Twilight?" I gestured to the book in her hand.

"Yes."

"I didn't know you're into vampire stuff."

"Why?"

"You just don't seem the type."

"The type who reads? Or the type who likes vampire stuff?" she asked.

"Both." I answered.

"Well, what type do you think I am?" she curiously asked.

"A blonde badass chick." I answered.

She laughed.

"I have facts and experience to prove it. The day I met you, which was yesterday; you stomped my foot, punched me in the face and puked all over my baby. That leaves an impression don't you think?" I reasoned.

She shrugged.

"Are you always like that to every guy you meet?" I added.

"You are a special case."

"You mean popular and good looking."

"No, more like an over confident annoying guy." she smiled.

"Ouch." I placed a had on my chest. "You hurt my feelings Blondie."

The atmosphere between us somewhat felt awkward given the events that transpired within the last 24 hours.

Neither of us to talked.

So to ease this awkwardness around us, I connected my phone to the Bluetooth and played a song.

Blondie hummed to it. In my peripheral vision, I can see her scribbling down something on her notebook.

She then gave me a piece of paper with her address written on it.

She could've just told me, I don't see the reason why it had be written down.

Nonetheless, I let it slide. She must've had her reasons, I focused my attention back to driving.

"We're here." I announced.

"Thanks."

The next thing she did, caught me off guard. Like an assassin in the night, it was swift and precise.

She kissed me on the cheek.

I was able to catch a glimpse of her cheeks turning crimson before she got out of the car.

"I... uh... um... Bye!"

She bolted out of the car and ran to the front door.

A smile crept up on my face as I held the cheek she placed the kiss on.

Look at that, Blondie's a girl after all.
