Chapter 6 - Mysterious Attack

Lin Wen Xin was completely stunned and did not know how to react when she saw Wang Shen Ze’s cold expression.

“Aunty Jia Li, no... we actually... met at the entrance...” Lin Wen Xin responded shyly.

Wang Shen Ze walked to an empty seat, and simply ignored Lin Wen Xin’s response to Xu Jia Li.

Lin Wen Xin then went on to greet the rest of the elders present and took the seat beside Lin Gao Hai.

Tonight, the elders of the Wang Family are all present - Granny Wang, Wang Li Xun and Xu Jia Li.

Wang Yi Ning was invited to join them, but was unable to make it due to the filming of her new drama.

“Wen Xin, I have picked an auspicious date for the wedding. Take a look and let me know if it is okay?” Granny Wang smiled as she handed an envelope over to her.

Lin Wen Xin reached out both of her hands and took the envelope from Granny Wang respectfully.

She glanced at Lin Gao Hai and opened the envelope in front of him.

21st December... That is about 6 months away!

Lin Gao Hai smiled and said a few words to Granny Wang, expressing his satisfaction with the plan.

“Thank you Granny Wang, I have no objections with this date! Sorry for troubling you for this!” Lin Wen Xin replied Granny Wang earnestly.

“Silly girl, don’t say that! We are already a family!” Granny Wang laughed heartily as she responded.

Even though Granny Wang took some effort and time to prepare a date for them, she also thoroughly enjoyed this process as it concerns her grandson’s marriage.

Though Granny Wang has only met Lin Wen Xin twice, she has a good impression of this girl and is in fact, very fond of her.

She trusts her own intuition that Lin Wen Xin is the most suitable girl for her grandson, Wang Shen Ze.

The atmosphere during dinner was great as everyone continued with their rounds of food and chattering.

“Dad, I will visit the washroom!” Lin Wen Xin whispered to Lin Gao Hai’s ear.

Lin Gao Hai then nodded his head in acknowledgment.

Lin Wen Xin left the room quietly and walked towards the washroom.

As the Chinese restaurant followed a palace theme, there were certain areas that were not as well-lit as compared to the main dining areas.

One such area was the corridor leading to the washroom. The designers have deliberately sourced for a slightly dimmer light to add to the atmosphere of the entire place.

However, even with the installation of these dimmer lights, guests were still able to navigate seamlessly through these areas.

Just as Lin Wen Xin walked out of the bathroom into the corridor, someone grabbed onto her arm and pulled her to the side, causing her to make a sharp turn.

Because the attack was unexpected, she almost fell and was unable to focus on the person’s face at that instance.

“Who...” Lin Wen Xin blurted out in confusion, but before she could speak further, she was once again dragged by her arm.

“Ouch!” Her back directly slammed against the cold wall of the corridor.

Lin Wen Xin looked up and was surprised to see a familiar face in front of her.

“Shen... Shen Ze?” Lin Wen Xin stuttered in disbelief as she continuously rubbed on her arm.

Wang Shen Ze had used a significant amount of force earlier when he dragged her by the arm.

As such, the red marks on her arm has not disappeared and Lin Wen Xin is still feeling the pain from the force.

Apart from her arm, her back hurts so much too!

“Cut your pretentious act! It’s disgusting!” Wang Shen Ze said as he stared coldly into Lin Wen Xin’s eyes.

Lin Wen Xin looked at Wang Shen Ze with a wronged expression.

“So you want to marry me?” Wang Shen Ze said as he lifted the corner of his lips and gave a smile that was not a smile.

There was an unconcealed fear that was plastered on Lin Wen Xin’s face.

Her heart started to beat rapidly as Wang Shen Ze’s face slowly enlarged before her eyes.

He moved his face towards her ear and spoke in a cold and chilling manner, “From today onwards, I promise to do everything to make sure that you will regret becoming my wife, for the rest of your life! Mark my words!”

Wang Shen Ze immediately retreated back to his original position.

Lin Wen Xin couldn’t believe what she has just heard. Her eyes unknowingly became watery as she felt the impact of his words.

Is this a bad dream? Could she even wake up from this?

Even though she appears to have a strong and cheerful personality, no one actually knew how she had led her life in these six years.

How much she really missed him and his warm embrace. How much she yearned to be breathing in the same space as him again.

No no! She had to confess to him now! She had to let him know her feelings for him!

She had to let him know that she has never once forgotten about him! She had never once forgotten about their promise!

She had to let him know that she, is the girl that he has been waiting for!

Just as Wang Shen Ze was about to leave the corridor, Lin Wen Xin courageously called out to him, “Shen Shen...”

The clear voice echoed throughout the empty corridor.

Since they were in a relationship in high school, they were young at that time and naturally found it cute to call each other by their nickname.

Lin Wen Xin and Wang Shen Ze were each other’s first love. And so, there is only one person in the world who would call each of them by their exclusive nickname.

Wang Shen Ze turned back to look at Lin Wen Xin.

Lin Wen Xin’s heart stopped for a moment as she thought to herself, “Could it be... that he recognised me?”

Her eyes looked at him with much anticipation as he walked steadily towards her.

“What did you say?” Wang Shen Ze questioned with disbelief on his face.
