I slightly turned my head around to look at the imprints, my foot had just left on the sand. I was strolling on the beach all by myself. Never had I imagined that I would be bored out of my mind while I would be in Fiji. Still this was better than sitting back at the hotel room seeing his stupid face all day.
"Hey, uhm.. I assume you're not busy?" I halted in my steps to look at a tall guy looking at me with his deep blue eyes.
"Doesn't seem like it." I shrugged.
"I'm Andrew Davis." He stuck his hand out.
"Elena Smith." I shook his hand.
"Would you mind if I join you?" It was the resort's private beach. So I assumed he was another guest at the same property.
Rylan's POVThis stupid honeymoon definitely cost me a lot. I missed out on so many days of work and working from home didn't compensate for it. Not that I could work each day even. Speaking of that I was reminded of that day with Elena. My eyes quickly found her face. She was seated in the opposite seat of mine in the jet. Her eyes were closed. Though she looked peaceful in her sleep with her mouth slightly open, I felt like those thick curly lashes would flutter open at any time.I leaned back in my seat, my mind travelling back to the memories of that day. I couldn't actually say that I regretted the day. I haven't had a chance to feel so carefree or peaceful in a long while. That moment on the deck, I didn't know what it was about when I couldn't pull my gaze away from her face. It was as if something in me was telling me to keep staring. There was something serene about the way she was smiling and being all giddy about those corals.<
Elena's POV"I have sent the resignation on your behalf and you must be knowing that I am well acquainted with your boss." He said these with a small smile that was anything but genuine."Threats! That's your speciality right?" I wanted to burn him into a piece of roasted meat. His shoulders moved up and down in a stupid shrug."You established your point and influence. Now leave before I kick you in the face." He raised his hands in mock surrender before leaving me in my room in utter frustration."Well, I don't care. Now come with me before we get late." He started walking out of the house."I am not coming with you." I stayed rooted to my initial position. He slowly turned around and stared at my face before his face lit up in realisation."Ah! I get it." To say the least, I was confused."What?" I raised a brow."You're stupid." I blinked twice, taken by surprise at his sudden declaration."What? I'm not!" I wanted t
Elena's POV"I missed you guys." I hugged both of them before allowing them in."Yeah, therefore you don't call every day." Liv turned her face away while Tyler just smiled."I am sorry?" I gave her the best puppy eyes I could manage."I can forgive you but on one condition." I cautiously stared at her face."We are going out to see a movie this weekend." She declared it and who was I to turn down a movie night!"Done." I said, leading them upstairs."And this is my room." I said, stepping into the room."Your room?" I turned back at the tone Tyler used and saw both him and Liv stare strangely at me and their faces looked scarily similar. I furrowed my brows for a second before realizing what just went wrong."I mean our room.""But this does look like your room." Liv said, roaming
Rylan's POVOn entering I saw Elena sitting on the sofa with folded legs and watching a movie. At the sight of her , memories of today clouded my mind which didn't help my headache."Zoe, get me a cup of coffee." I yelled. Zoe was our cook."Zoe left. She had some important work . I can make you your coffee though it's time for dinner." I scoffed at her offer."No please! Don't tire yourself on my account. Let me not hear complaints that I am mistreating you." She furrowed her eyebrows in pretend confusion."What do you mean?" I rolled my eyes at her fake innocence."Of course you don't know what I mean." I mocked her."You know you're so difficult. I simply offered you a cup of coffee. You don't need to be rude." She folded her arms and glared at me. I chuckled and nodded."Yeah, now go, run to your b
Rylan's POV"We just need signatures on these papers." Hardly did she let her words out when I heard Elena."I'll do it." She held the pen in her shaky hands and completed the paperworks."Thank you." The nurse left after getting a curt nod from her. Elena looked extremely nervous if her continuous blinking and shaky, fidgeting hands were any indication."Elena." She snapped her head towards me."Rylan, what is going to happen to Dad?" I could hear her unstable breathing."Nothing will happen to him." I held her by her shoulder and assured her."He will survive this, right? Will he come back?" I could guess that she was trying to keep it all in."Hey, hey, look at me." I cupped her cheek and spoke in a soft voice."He will definitely survive this, okay?" She stared at m
Elena's POV"Here." I handed her the cup of coffee before taking a seat beside her."You're taking your medicines on time, right?" I asked, remembering how Dad is always the one to remind her of her medicines."Do I have a choice? Liv and Tyler are always breathing down my neck." She huffed."Good." I nodded, satisfied to which she shook her head."How are things back at home?" Her voice was soft but sounded tired."Just the usual." Lie. Usual back at Rylan's house was we being civil to each other at one moment and fighting at other. However, since the last few days, Rylan had been nothing but understanding. He didn't throw some arrogant remarks here and there and he actually was caring. There are instances where I had been snappy but he didn't retort."How's Ava?" Mom's voice broke my chain of thoughts. Thinking of Av
